Solal Burnout
Stimulates adrenal function for use in exhaustion and adrenal burnout. Years of stress can exhaust the adrenal glands which the body relies on to manufacture the stress-coping and anti-fatigue hormone, cortisol. The adrenals also produce aldosterone, essential for water/mineral balance, as well as pregnenolone and DHEA, the building blocks of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Burnout is indicated for people who are suffering from adrenal exhaustion from years of exposure to stress, and works by boosting excessively low levels of cortisol. Adrenal fatigue is characterised by tiredness and chronic fatigue, coupled with some of the following symptoms: chronic pain, mild depression, anxiety, reduced stress-coping ability, patchy hair loss, insomnia, poor blood sugar control (up or down), weight gain, frequent infections, reduced sex drive, a craving for fatty, salty or high-protein foods, difficulty getting up in the morning, worsening of allergies, reduced memory and focus, alternating diarrhoea and constipation, and indigestion. Burnout contains concentrated herbal extracts for enhanced effectiveness, not herb powder and has synergistic dual action: stimulating adrenal function and reducing adrenal hormone breakdown.

Pharmacological Action
Adrenal fatigue occurs when the adrenal glands, situated above the kidneys, become overworked or damaged, usually from long-term exposure to stress. As a result of being overworked, they secrete reduced amounts of the adrenal hormones, the main ones being cortisol, aldosterone, pregnenolone, DHEA and adrenaline. The most important of these is cortisol, because when this is lowered, the body will no longer be able to deal with stress, a situation which can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome.
Korean ginseng is an adaptogen that enhances energy and improves adrenal function. The term adaptogen refers to Korean ginseng’s buffering ability; to stimulate an underactive adrenal gland by affecting the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, by slowing down an overactive adrenal, thereby reducing the effects of stress. Korean ginseng also protects nerve function and enhances memory and coping ability during times of stress. Korean ginseng will also help treat the blood-sugar irregularities and low blood pressure that occur with under-active adrenal glands.
Liquorice slows down the breakdown of cortisol in the body by inhibiting renal 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, reducing the conversion of cortisol to inactive cortisone in the kidneys, allowing the adrenals time to recuperate. Liquorice also helps protect from the acidic indigestion sometimes associated with adrenal fatigue and burnout. Echinacea is a potent adrenal stimulant, and also helps fight infections (such as candida) that commonly occur with adrenal fatigue. Echinacea achieves this by increasing phagocytosis and increasing lymphocyte activity, possibly by promoting the release of tumour necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and interferon. Several constituents of Echinacea seem to be involved in stimulating this nonspecific immune response.
Chromium polynicotinate helps prevent the blood sugar irregularities and fatigue caused by an underactive adrenal gland as it is a vital component of glucose tolerance factor (GTF). Clinical evidence shows that vitamin B1 (thiamine pyrophosphate) counters the adrenal insufficiency that occurs from trauma such as surgery. Vitamin B5 (calcium-d-pantothenate) in the form of coenzyme A is closely involved in adrenal cortex function and has come to be known as the anti-stress vitamin; it acts as an enzyme to facilitate the production of all adrenal anti-stress hormones.
